My first truck ...
Hello ...
I'm in the process of buying my first truck:
A 1978 F150 Ranger Lariat / 2WD / Auto / V8 - 351
I fell in love with it at first sight....:-) The interior and body are in fantastic shape! I had my mechanic look at it today and he said if I didn't buy for the $1,400 the guy is asking for I'd end up kicking myself.
I want this truck to be able to tow a small vintage travel trailers - weighing from 1,500 lbs to 2,900 lbs.
This Lariat has a newer rebuilt engine that the owner said was NOT a "backyard rebuild". He installed a RV Cam. I really don't know much about trucks, but want to learn.
Is this truck able to tow a smaller travel trailer (10' to 13' long) safely? Is it enouigh truck for the job? (see pic below)

There are several forums that can provide you information about your truck. Click on the Forums tab at the upper left and browse over the boards. There are boards for your year of truck, it's engine, wiring, etc. There is also a towing forum that may be just what you are looking for.
