What do you guys think? It’s a 2002 Limited with 95k miles and its got the V-10. It has leather, PS drivers seat, new tires, rear taillight covers (real chrome), the push bar and chrome bumper, the hood scoops, and its in perfect condition. No damage to anything what so ever. Paint is in great shape and engine looks clean for a 2002.
He is asking $16k. Should I get it?
What’s the difference between the Limited and the XLT?
Also I have the VIN, where can I get the build sheet for the vehicle to view all options it has and what the specifications are. I need to know if it has the Dana 50 front, Ford 10.5 rear axles.
Limited gets you leather standard plus some other goodies. Biggest visual difference is the lower body cladding. Arizona beige is the most popular lower color for the Limiteds. There have been so many silly names for Excursions' trim levels for its 5 year run that I cannot keep track of them all. But Arizona Beige lowers with the wheel lip molding versus just the greyish lowers W/O the wheel lip molding seperate the XLT and the Limited's exterior for the most part. There are all black Excursions (the best one made) that have different labels (it seems) based on the year it was made. Anyway...
16K seems high in my book for a 5 year old V10 in this market...but you should check all the popular car value sites just to make sure.
It's a nice looking truck. If it just didn't have the stick on "hood scoops"...
BTW, they ALL have D50 fronts and the Sterling 10.5 out back...although the rear diff size is kinda up in the air. We've all thought that they were 10.5 but when guys have swapped gears it says 10.25 on it. This is with Excursions and Super Dutys. The 05+ SUPER DUTYs (not Excursions) have a Sterling 10.5 axle that is visually larger than previous models. I'm no axle expert. But it is safe to say you've got a D50 & a 10.5 Sterling.
I don't need to know were I'm going, just where I've been! -Tow Mater

I've broken more taillights than headlights, so...it makes as much sense as brush guards on the front. I try not to make it a habit to drive either end into the bushes, it just seems to happen more backing up (turning around in a campsite or woodlot mostly). At over $100 apiece for OEM taillights and $25-75 for salvage tailights it starts to make money sense anyway. Most people though are more about adding a little more chrome, whereever they can...
