I have a 06 F-150 Lariat and mI was wonder what leveling kits are out there and which ones work the best. i also tow a Buick Grand National on a regular basis during the summer and was wondering if I put an extra leaf in the back will I have to get a lift for the fron to level it. i know tht there is a kit by Bilstien but I cannot find it anywhere. is there anyone here using it. Does anyone have good Pics. of your truck with a kit installed. Should I level it and put air bags in the back. i was going to trade it in and buy a 250 or 350 with a PSD but I have come to the hard realization that 50,000 is a lot of money to spend on a truck that I dont drive that much. thanks for the help.
Is your truck truck having trouble towing? I have a 06 lariat and tow a Ford Mustang to the 1/4 track on a regular basis and I have no problems with it at all. There is no need to upgrade trucks unless you have a heavy load and your truck is strugling(8k+) . I have learned to set the toungue weight by placing the car at the sweet spot on the trailer, this makes a big differance.

Reason: forgot word
The truck tows great but it does squat a little. the car weighs about 4500 Lbs and the trailer is about 2500 lbs maybe another 500-1000 lbs when all my stuff is in it. I tow it across country and I just wanted to level it out while I'm towing with it. thats why I thought leveling it in the front and adding some air bags to keep the ride height right when its not loaded. i also tow my uncles 73 Monte cazrlo and that thing weighs about 5500 lbs and just fits in the trailer so there is no finding the sweet spot. i have a little more leway with my GN cause its not so long. I am not into modifying so much but I just want to be a little safer while on the road.
I added a 2" leveling kit and also a Helwig add a leaf because when I towed or hauled anything the rear would be slightly lower than the front and it drive me crazy. If you have the cash go with an air bag system so it doesn't affect the factory smooth ride. The add a leafs made the ride a lot stiffer on my 04 FX4.
I had to make an emergency trip to Maryland this weekend and the truck was flawless. The only thing my 04 6.0 SD did better was fuel mileage. The best I could do with a car on the trailer was 10.1 mpg. The truck did squat in the rear and like I said I am going to put the Bilstien 2" leveling kit in as soon as it arrives. I am going to do the air bags because I dont want to loose the factory ride. I may also put 33" tires on it as soon as I find some that I like. That may be tough because I have 20 " factory wheels on it. Anyway any doubt I had in the capabitilty of this truck has gone away after this trip. This truck was great.
Beefford, did you hve the truck realaigned after you had the leveling kit installed or not?
yes, they recommend to have the front allinged after the install. i put my 2.5" autospring kit on last week, and wow what a difference, looks like a whole new truck. and the best thing is ,it still has the factory ride.good luck
sarge if possible be sure to post some before and after pics of those shocks. i really wanna get a set for my truck and i'm real curious to see how they look. also, did you get the front shocks only? and where did you get them? thanks.
No I got all 4 front and rear. I also ordered new springs and mounting hardware from FORD. It was only another 100 bucks so I figured that if I didnt like them I could put the stock shocks back on and sell the Bilstiens. I dont think that will be the case I have put Bilstiens on all of my trucks and have been very pleased with them. I did a search on E-bay they seemed to have the cheapest prices.
