I am searching for a lift kit for my 1998 2wd Ranger, and i have noticed that most suspension lifts are for models up to 97, then from either 99 on, or 2000 on. i really have no idea why most companies dont offer the lifts for the 98 year model ranger. Could it be the front torsion bars, because i think that the 98 year is when they introduced them for a year or two. I just don't know a lot about this subject so could someone please clue me in.
I don't know the why's or the why nots, but if your 2-wheel drive has torsion bars, then a lift kit for the edge should work as they have torsion bars as well. You can also crank the t-bars a couple of inches to level the truck and run up to a 31" tire.
Unless your truck is a Trailhead, it will be coil sprung. I know that fabtech makes a kit with coils and arms. Just keep in mind, when you lift the front suspension wise, you CANT use just coils. I tried on my 99. You need to get coils and arms to do it.
Or spindles! Many of my customers have had good luck with spindles.
You can also use a body lift, if you just want to get some bigger tires on there.
