Mild concern

I watched "Water World" last night and today I am mildly concerned.

I went outside this morning to find a pleasant surprise. It was 42 even without sun. (Cloud cover usually means colder temps)

Well, that's no big deal, right?

WRONG! It's now 59. What the heck?!?! This is January in western New York. I want to see some freezing temperatures! I want to see some SNOW!!!

Does anyone else feel like I do? At first the warm weather was kind of funny. I spent 2 hours getting my tractor out of the mud this morning. It has lost all humor.

I deliberatly left some stone moving till winter for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the frozen ground. I left the whole month of january free from scheduled work just to do this project (barn foundation back filling with field stone). I can't even run my tractor around the barn because I just slide down the hill towards the brand new block wall... I can't even tell you how many times I've come within inches of making a garage door in the wall.

With all that said, and my sandwich now finished, I'm going back outside to walk around in a tshirt and jeans IN JANUARY!! I will NOT be working on the foundation for quite some time apparently.

I wouldn't mind the "Waterworld" effect if I could hang with Jeanne Tripplehorn.

The weather over here has been a bit unusual.

It's been windy and cold.

I've been working outside in shirtsleeves all week. It's nice, but I'm ready for snow...

No complaints here. I hate cold weather and snow. This warmer than normal weather is saving me gobs on LP to heat my garage. And at least I don't have to shovel the rain!

I love my state for the four seasons. Fall and winter are starting to look the same around here. I would move to the artic to get some cold weather , but I see the polars bears are leaving there now, because the glaciers are melting.

Is that her name? I can never remember chicks names. But she is a fox nonetheless.

Unusually warm here in NC also.....Will be close to 70 tomorrow (Saturday), then will cool to the 50s (high) and 40s later this week.....

Lots of times, clear or clearing skies denote colder weather and cloud cover can trap the heat better....

No complaint here. The warmer the better. I hate snow and ice. I can still ride my motorcycle.

yea my job is outside and i've been dressing as i normally would long sleeve t shirt or thermal, t shirt ,and button up. Normally that would be just right in no. illinios for me. I'm normally outside for about a 1/2 hour at a time working very hard, then drive 5 to 20 minutes to the next stop and start over. I've been driving around with my windows down because i am sweating, and longer drives with more wind noise ,i've had windows up a/c on. Whats up? I like it and am not complaining, but i also love the weather and change of seasons know matter what the conditions. Otherwise i would work inside. So i feel as though i am being cheated out of a season

yeah,we had that big 13 inches of snow the 1st of december, and it melted within a week after it hit. it has been in the 40's and even high 50's most days since then. i am not complaining at all!! warmer weather equals less utilitly bills!! we have had quite a bit of rain,so lack of moisture is not a problem.

The pisser is, I've got about 5 truckloads of oak I spent a great deal of time bucking and splitting, and I've only been able to have a good fire going about a dozen times so far. I'm one to NOT bitch when it's cold during the winter.......Ain't nothing like a nice fire going and a crock pot of some bubbling, delicious concoction adding to the aura...with a cold, blustery day outside.

Then again, maybe if I lived in a place where you northern boys actually see 6 months of winter, I'd change my tune.

When I first moved up here, in central western NY, I was warned by everyone about blizzards and storms and being snowed in.

That was 6 yrs ago and I have yet to see more then 7 inches of snow at one time. My cousin called me last week to ask what he should make in the 6' snow drift in front of his apartment building... I'm sure he meant well but it certainly sounded like sarcasm to me. He's in Colorado.

It's 2:43 AM and still above 50 out there.
