I have had my '06 Screw king ranch for just over a week now and just clicked past 1000 miles. On my way to work this morning I hear a funny "ppfffttt" sound when I was driving. It happened every 60 seconds or so and wasn't very loud. I turned off the radio and it continued to happen. I was running the A/C so I cut this off and the sound went away but as soon as I cut the A/C back on it returned. I have had a number of Ford vehicles and have never had this type of sound before when running the A/C. It just doesn't sound right. Anybody have anything similar?
You may have your temp setting set for automatic and this may be y it switches back and forth to heat or cold, see if that happens in manual
just a thought

Auto temp sensor set on something more than 60 degrees, you may be hearing the door between the heater and cooling side in the duct work opening and closing trying to maintain the set temp. See if it happens at max cool and set at 60 degrees. if not most probably the cooling/heat door.
I have found that if the outside temp is less than 30 degrees f. then it just won't work well on auto climate control. You will freeze or burn, and yes there is a noise there. Ford buys their computers for this stuff from penny stores in third world countrys.
I still like my F-150. Hell just ten years ago, I had to move the heater control often to stay warm. And AC sucked. It was either too cold, or not cold enough, no comfort zone!
They are getting better, but the price of them is just rediculious.
The way things are going, in ten years a Ford Pick-em-up truck will cost $150,000. Don't talk about a Lariat or KR.
Thanks for the feedback guys. It seems to do it whether the truck is in auto climate control or manual. I am going to play with it today to see if I can figure it out before I take it in to the dealer.
