Help! I have a 56 F-250 w/out a title & am having an impossible time trying to get one here in Nevada. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I would try some of the larger swap meets. I have found venders selling titles.I have bought titles for a 40 Ford 21/2 ton C.O.E,a 4o Ford pickup and a 37 pontiac coupe at swap meets.
Good Luck !!!!!
If you go to an insurance agent, you can get a title using a "title bond." The bond is basically a policy based on the value of the car. It insures your title against the possible "real owner" showing up with the title. After 2 years (more or less depending on state), your title is secure against claims because the state now considers yours the only title. This method is usually cheaper than finding a title company because they have to do title searches.
In nevada, you should be able to do a 'Lien Sale' Just say the vehicle was abandoned on your property and you want to get clear title to sell it! Look into the yellow pages, there are many companies that specialize in lien sales for vehicles, or try your local tow company, they should be able to get it done for you! Good luck! JR

I went to the DMV about 3 times and 5hrs worth when my boss sent me to a junk yard with a satellite dmv. The fellow there told me I was going about this the wrong way, I was trying to do things correctly. 70 dollars later I was on my way with the papers in the mail. This is in Calif. and what I had to sign was 3 forms of DILIGENT EFFORT meaning I did everything in my power to find the previous owner and could not. I had the truck weighed and a neighbor cop verified the the vin number. Job complete. I was then able to start working on the truck.
