Replacing Injectors

I'm going to be replacing my injectors and don't want to burn up my starter when I'm done. Is there an easy way to bleed the fuel lines after this project is completed? It's a 1986 F250 with a 6.9.

Thanks,
Pat

When I replaced the injectors on my 86 & 84, I didn't have to crank it all that long to get them started....but that may not be the norm, 20 seconds max with 3 minute cool down for the starter, have some one hold the shrader valve in while your cranking, lol.

Pressurize the fuel tank and hold the shrader valve till fuel comes up and crack number 8 injector line open a bit. Just like bc6.9 said do not crank longer than 20 seconds with 3 minutes cooling time. It worked great when i replaced my lines and o rings.

The fuel lines will still be mostly full and you are introducing just a little bit of air, so its pretty easy to get it started up. Just leave the injector lines cracked, then crank it. Fuel will come out at each one and push the air out. Tighten them up and it should start up next try. Give it some throttle til it clears up. When I did mine last, I did one side, then started it. Then I moved on to the other 4 so I didn't have to bleed them all at once. After you insure that nothings leaking, you may have to drive it for a mile or three to get all the air out. If you have excessive white smoke drive it til it clears up.

I used a "clean" bottle with nozzle or pour tube on it to "pre fuel" the injectors, just poured fuel in the top before I hooked up my lines. Fired right up without problems. If you only undo the line at the injector they will not loose hardly any fuel.
