On some older carburated engines there is an electric solenoid on the carb that was used to help keep an engine from 'dieseling' on after you shut the engine off. When the power is shut off from the solenoid it allows the carb to close up even more than it does at an idle and prevents the engine from running by stopping all of the air from entering. At least I think that was the point of them.

How this helps you: You can use the solenoid to bump up your idle to whatever you want by adjusting location of the solenoid and it will be controlled with a small electric switch instead of some clunky cable and **** system.

I used an electric solenoid (plunger type) and a switch to provide high idle. Lots of trucks, and cars used this method from the factory to do this for high idle when the a/c was on. They can be modified to provide enough throw to achieve the desired rpm.

i used an old choke cable, routed it through the firewall and made a bracket that clamped the outer sleeve and then just ran the actual cable through one of the holes in the throttle mechanism. worked very well, i love it!

i got tony to help me out with my high idle on my psd but thats not a viable option for you!
