Smile Spare Keys

I've got 2 good keys but would like to get at least 1 more, preferably 2. does anyone know where I can find the best deal for the keys for our truck? I can find the ones for the newer PSDs with the really big head to them, but ours are smaller and hard to find. Suggestions on where to find & buy? Thanks all!!

I went to a hardware store. The bigger keys have computer chips in them and will cost more(normally).

My key has that chip in it, from what I understood. Or do I have bad info? It's called the PATS system I think? Or maybe that's what's in the truck... guess I could use some clarification. Thanks!!

small head key= no chip; take to walmart or anywhere to have a copy made. big head key =chip; stealer is only option. I dont think I have run across a stroker with a chipped key.

either way they will at least open the door. the chip only prevents starting.

From what i have read the chipped keys will be in the 08 superduties and they will be the first ones to have them. I would be leary of your remote start installers, anyone in that business that looks at your key with the small head should be able to tell you that you don't have a chip in it. I would personally tell them to jump off a bridge and go somewhere else.

The Excursions have the PATS, I believe, and the newer F150s, but our Superduties do not (unless the new 08s have them, like ponch said).

You can go to any hardware store that copies keys to get it copied, as it's just a plain old key. Any place you go should have the right "head" so the key will look the same, just w/out the Ford logo.

Correct, the PSD Excursions have the PATS system.

The SuperDuty trucks don't? I didn't know that.

I get all my PATS keys from ebay. It's TONS cheaper than buying from the dealership or locksmith.

Once I get my keys, I have them cut at a hardware store, then program them myself.

Programming is easily done as long as you already have two functioning, programmed PATS keys.

After I first got my truck, I went to the local Ace and had copies made. New keys look exactly the same, same head and all.

One of the keys that was MADE works better than my original, not as much trouble with the door locks when I unlock the truck manually.
