Do any of the sponsors have the front leaf spring pads,
or whatever they are called ??
Also, on the end of the springs can that bushing or whatever be replaced ?? And how hard is it to do ?? Is it rubber or
that poly stuff ??

Get polyurethane, be the last set you should ever have to buy, and use the grease, and buy extra if you can. The grease that comes with the poly bushings is some tacky stuff. www.summitracing.com should be able to hook you up with leaf spring bushings, although i dont know were you get the pads for between leafs. Also check www.energysuspension.com for part numbers if summit doesnt have them..... summit is very fast to ship out.
The leaf spring bushings aren't that tough if you go with the polyurethane since they are a two piece.
If you have never removed leafsprings before, read up on it first and be very careful as they can hurt you bad or kill you if you don't get the tension off of them before you remove them.
The spring insulators are a Ford item : part # 1C3Z5B302AA
If you are doing all these do your sway bar and sway bar link bushings too
Where can I read up on removing the leaf springs ??
I did a search but it kept bringing me back here......
Someone must have tips, or knowledge to help ...
Or is replacing the end bushings best left for a front end shop ??
Surely, someone has done the front leaf springs bushings..
Any instructions, tips, etc.. would be appreciated.
They are really not that difficult, jack up the vehicle, so all the weight is off the springs (support FRAME with jackstands) and also support the axle now, as you are going to unbolt it. Then unbolt the leaf springs, plan on lots of penetrating oil, as alot of times, the bolts no longer want to be seperated from the collar in the bushing. (probably the most difficult part if they are stuck) An impact hammer works great for this. once the springs are out, (someone makes a tool), but i just heat the eye of the spring up some, and then pop them out with a hammer. wear face protection, as when the rubber gets hot, and you smack it, it tends to splash everywere, including your face. Once they are out, clear out the inside of the spring eye with a wire wheel, or whatever you have to make it smooth again, and then apply the grease, and pop in the new bushings and bolt everything back up......... you must get new u-bolts for the axle, and new spring hardware is always a plus.....
