Are you putting everything....fenders, core support, hood, inner fender aprons?
If so the only issued are wiring harness has to be taken out of the old truck and put on the new clip. The fender aprons from a 87 and a mid 90's have different mounting holes for the different engine compartment do-dads. The core support could be just slightly different as to how a trans cooler bolts up and other misc things that attach to it. I am sure these are things that can be done...just takes a little extra time. I know basically all the body points and body mounts will bolt right up. Absolutely no problem. Good luck.
Do I have to use the core support.Really just wanted to swap fenders, hood and front facia, grill and bumper for cosmetic reasons. Will the later model fenders bolt to the 87 core support?
Hmmm...not absolutely positive on that one. I don't beleive they changed the way everything mounts to the core support. Basically if you have the 87 front end and have access to a mid 90's i'd just look at where the bolts go into the core support. Even if you had to swap core supports I can guarantee that you would have to cut the body mount bolts. These areas are prone to rust and do so on every truck. They rust out eventually and the whole front end collapses down. I think it would be a better idea anyways since your 87 is more than likely on it's way out. Good luck.
From looking at pictures of the core supports in LMC Truck catalog, and discussions about this over the past few weeks, You do need to change the support, the headlight holes are different for one thing, so you probably won't get the mid 90's ones in there right. You will also need to fabricate bumper brackets. There are several people here that have done this recently.
Thanks.....I was wondering about the bumper.....I really would like to update the front end....SAS with a D-60....update the front end.....add a turbo to the 6.9....paint.....it will be a busy summer...the 1500 beater will be one tuff truck....
