Continuing Electrical problems

Here we go again. About a month age I posted ion the Bronco forum that my truck would not start- no electrical power. Got lots of advice to replace the 11 year old battery cables, finally got around do doing this yesterday. No help. Here is a review of the symptoms,

1. no dome light when opening the door. With or without key turned does not matter no radio horn, nothing.
2. new battery (shows just over 12 volts on the meter), new cables now also
3. will jump start (did jump to a ground not the – terminal) and runs fine, if it stalls needs jump to run again. All internal power is fine when running.

I am hoping that someone can point me in a good direction because replacing electrical items until the correct one is found is more than I can afford.

BTW it is a 95 Bronco 302 5 speed if that matters to computer systems.

Have you done a simple continuity check from the (-) battery terminal to various spots on the chassis? It certainly sounds like the battery is not fully connected up.

It sounds like you have about 5 bad fuses.
Do you have a test light so you can check the fuses in both fuse panels?

If the fuses are bad why would it jump start and run good? I think it also roll starts given enough room and a hill. Yes it does sound like a ground issue but I have continuity from the battery to the frame, chassis, and the engine.

The only sure fire way I know to figure this out is get a meter and do some voltage tests. The problem will be at the component behind were you lose a voltage reading.

1. Put the meter on points #1 and #2. Try to start the engine. If the voltage drops way low, then your battery is bad.(I know you have a new battery, so it should past this test).

2. Leave the neg meter lead on #2, and move the pos meter lead to #3. If the voltage drops here when you try to start it, then the pos bat cable is bad.

3. Move the neg meter lead to the engine block(#4). Leave the pos on #3. If the voltage drops with the meter like this, then you know your neg bat cable is bad.

If you get 12 volts in every test above, and when you turn the key all you get is silence(no clicking at all), then we will have to move on down into the elec system a little bit.

Franklin2, all thatis well and good but there is no power any where at any time. The only place i know I have power is at the battery and at the ends of the cables coming off the battery.

I am confused because there is NO currant in the cab (lights radio horn) unless the truck is running
