I'm not sure there is ANY difference between the '06 and '07 trucks.

None come to mind.

That isn't exactly accurate. A properly (key word here) installed alarm is just as difficult to bypass as the Ravelco. The problem with most alarms is the installer/installation, not its design. Unfortunately, most installers simply take the ignition and other wires they need for the alarm from the easiest to get to location (easiest for them and a thief), which is right at the ignition switch and fusebox, and never take the time to blend the wires in to factory looms. Then they simply stuff the brain up underneath the drivers-side dash, once again, in an easy to get to location. The single biggest problem I've encountered with the Ravelco (which is a good product) is human nature. People get tired of carrying around that awkward plug and simply stick it in the center console, glovebox, leave it under the drivers seat, and as stupid as it sounds, leave it plugged in. So whatever you decide on for security, remember, it's only as effective as the installation.

Sorry to hear about your truck. I live in Wisconsin and about 4 years ago I was in Houston for a job at the new MD Anderson building, 1st night in town me truck and trailer full of tools was stolen from the La Quinta Galleria, cops found it 1 1/2 days later still idleing behind a building on the north side. No damage done except for a door lock and ignition switch, but I had a lot of extras on the truck and made sure the insurance company knew this, also there was aprox 175,000 miles and I told them about possible future problems. 4 months later I was working in Houston again and my truck was broken into and the stereo stolen, the transmission also took a ***** at 188,000 miles. I called the insurance company and they paid for 50% of the rebuild. But to make this short you will have to fight the insurance for everything (they are not your friend) Also look at your local truck accessory shop or parts store for a set of Jimmy Jammers (steel plates that mount behind the door locks that prevent them from being pushed in) (found them in San Antonio NO PROBLEMS YET AFTER 4 YEARS)

Good Luck

Seems these trucks have been getting stolen left and right. These crooks need to be lined up and shot. Sorry about the truck.

Thanks for the link. I will be very interested in finding things like that to have put on my new truck when I get it.

Still just waiting with the insurance for the 21 day period to elapse. Will keep you guys updated on how the insurance company handles the claim.

Dang...another one bits the dust. We just had another Houston SD theft reported in the 6.0 forum a couple or three weeks ago.

This is certainly one area where we do not want Ford to be # 1.

Good luck BO!

Just a quick update.

They have found the truck. It has been towed to an impound lot here in Houston. I have not seen the truck yet, and they will not tell me the condition. I plan to go there pretty soon to check on the condition and see what is next in this terrible situation.

Better hurry. If Houston's impound is anything like the one in Dallas...it will be gone before you get there.

Hope everything turns out ok for ya BO... post some pics here if you can to show how they stole it, even though everyone seems to know how.

Also, for those of you talking about the Jimmy Jammers, are they still needed on the 07 trucks? I thought I read somewhere that Ford ended up doing something very similar in the newer ones? If not I'll probably be looking into buying a set.

That really sucks. I can understand how you feel about getting the truck back after something like that. Good luck.

Update:

I went and took a look at the truck. Not too much major damage to speak of. Obviously the key cylinder in the door is messed up, the ignition is missing, both batteries are dead, badly cracked windshield, a few dents and scratches that weren't there before, the tailgate is messed up from them trying to steal it, and most of the personal things from inside are gone. Overall, it is in pretty good shape I suppose, but still don't know exactly what all the damage is. Going to go and look at it again with the adjuster to make sure they see everything and get it to a good shop or the dealership to get it fixed back up. After all of that is done, I think I will be trading it in for a new one. Just don't know if I can drive it around knowing someone else has "violated" it you know....?

I know what you mean.

Watch the adjuster carefully. Point out stuff to him/her. Ask if they saw this, that, the dent, the scratch. Keep reminding them the truck is practically new. Keep your own list of everything that is damaged, compare it to what the adjuster comes up with.
