Every second oil change is minimum.

I actually do mine almost every oil change.
Two bolts and it is off on my turbo engine, plus that makes it easier to rinse out since it don't have time to crud up.

System;
Remove oil filter, remove drain plug.
Remove CDR and throw in can of gasoline
Change fuel filter, fill with Diesel Kleene
Change air filter
Grease dump bed
Grease rear drive shaft
Check oil in rear axle
Check oil in transfer case
Check oil in transmission
Shake CDR out and lay aside to dry
Fill filter with oil and reinstall
Reinstall drain plug
Grease front drive shaft
Grease front axle U joints
Grease ball joints
Grease tie rod ends
Check oil in front axle
Install new oil
Check belts, hoses, power steering fluid, master cylinders for clutch and brakes and lights.
Reinstall CDR
Check air in tires

Takes about an hour and a half.

thanks for the input-does the thought of any lingering gas vapor concern you?

Not at all.

Back in the old days before blended fuel and fuel treatments we used to add gasoline to the diesel at rates up to 10% to prevent gelling.

So I pulled into a truck stop and ran 120 gallons to each tank, then pulled over to the car island an ran 10 or 12 gallons of gasoline in each tank.

Things are so much easier and safer today.

i can appreciate that, i was taught that since gas is so vollital(?) it had no place around a diesel-even heard horror stories about people mistakingly putting gas in their tank and how it '"washed" down the cylinder walls and caused gualling.
