more machine work on roller cam
So, if you remember, I'm going with the comp cams retro roller cam which has the web that fits over the lifter guide/keeper (part that keeps the rollers positioned on the cam)
1. I found my block ('71) has ridges around the oil return ports on the valley- those interfere with the web when tighened- my later block doesn't have that problem. (Tim said he likes to use washers to raise the web a bit anyway) but i think I'll still need to take a bit off the ridge. I'm looking into making some studs/nuts to use in place of the bolts supplied with the kit.
2. where the lifter guide/keeper match up against the block there are the X X X cast into the block for strength. Those are not allowing them to line up as well as i'd like- flat.
So I plan on duck taping the hell out of the valley and machining the areas that seem to need it. I'm pretty sure ican do it and keep the assembled block clean.
what do ya think?
This is a '73 block with the small bellhousing.
This retro set-up came from a late model Mustang.
It does not have the Dog-Bones,
it uses a plastic type of holder.
This fit better on this application. May help you also.
