The past week I have been getting an almost constant door ajar lite on the dash and the dome and running board lites stay on even after I start the engine.. I have found that at least the dome lites seem to go out at around 10-15 mphand then as soon as you stop and turn off the car, they come back on again.. Also after a bit of time,10 minutes to an hour the dash lite goes off,but as soon as you open anything it comes on again..I have opened and closed every door including the rear and the hood and that doesn't seem to do anything..I am thinking that mebbee something got wet or dirty,so I am gonna get out the can of WD-40 and spray all the sensors...
HELP !!! before I have to take it in...
I too have this issue, and cannot offer any solutions at this time. Mine did this when I was in Utah last week for the holidays and for some fun in the snow. Despite me slamming the doors, the door ajar light would remain lit and would only go out after about 10 minutes and the doors would lock sometime after that. It has never done it since I have been in warm CA, so I do not know if it had anything to do with the cold or as you mentioned, dirty sensors. I have only owned my 2002 X for a little over a week, but as I mentioned, only when it was in the cold weather, did this happen (which it shouldn't matter as it should work properly regardless of the weather).
I had the same problem a few months ago and someone here suggested spraying the door latch with WD40. The switch is part of the latch I guess. I sprayed mine and that fixed the problem. Hope this works for you. Good Luck!!!
Drown it in WD, use compressed air and blow out, do a couple times on each latch, should be good to go. Make sure and finish with blowing out, so excess WD won't attract dust. Did mine like that, haven't had problems in over a year.
I have isolated it to the rear doors and will first try the drowning in WD-40 and then blowing it off suggestions and them will have the sensor checked.. Of course it's gonna be the last one checked..
When i got my X the light were doing the ecaxt thing, it took sometime of thinking and some major head scratching to figure it out that it was the rear door as well, what i ended up doing temporarily is just disconnecting the rear door switch all it does is just not turn on the lights for the groceries now. BUt the batter doesn't go dead anymore. The way i determined it was a slow but steady proccess. I just waited until the battery saver had turned off the lights and opened one door at a time each time waiting till the saver kicked in again until i found a door that did not turn the lights on, that is the door that the truck thinks is always open. Im sure there are easier ways but that one worked for me.
Ok,did the wd-40 and wipe off bit and it worked... For a time that is.. It does it again occassionally..Sooo,sewerat, which is the wire you disconnected???
I did both switches off the rear glass door. What you need to do is first take the 2 screws out that hold the pull down handle on and then pop the rear panel off completely. You are going to need a torque bit T-27 to take the side levers off, unless you are a contortionist, i got one with out it but lost my mind by the end. when you take the 3 or 4 bolsout, can't remember off hand how many each side has, gently reach in and unplug the 2 wire connector from each side, reassemble and call it done.
Just search and found this thread. Very helpful. I've had the same problem with my rear latch as well. Sometimes I would have to shut it multiple times.
I'll try the WD-40 and air blowing first. Then I'll disconnect the darn thing if that doesn't work.
Tried the WD40 trick on my rear glass but didn't help. Just have to firmly shut it instead of letting it slam down. That usually did the trick except this past weekend, it drained the battery. Time to disconnect dem switches.
