sensor location, obdI codes, runs rich
Hello all, I would like some help finding my o2 sensors so I can test them.
Some History: 1997 F350 xlt, auto, 4x4, crewcab logbed, 460, 133,000 miles, k&n fipk, after market exhaust. Truck purchased in sep 06, I'm just trying to make it dependable again.
I have recently replaced cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Fuel Filter looks pretty new, I own a new one but couldn't get the lines off the old one. I have also purchased a book (good thru '96 but at least the pictures look like my truck), and a code reader.
KOEO
111 - ALL GOOD
CM
118 - ECT
172 - HEGO (HO2S) SENSOR FAULT/LEAN
542 - FUEL PUMP SECONDARY CKT FAULT
KOER
116 - ECT HIGHER OR LOWER THAN EXPECTED
172 - O2 SENSOR AGAIN
538 - DYNAMIC RESPONSE TEST
536 - BOO CKT NOT ACTIVATED
632 - OVERDRIVE TRANS SWITCH
I'm not worried about the 538,536, and 632 codes. The engine was at operating temperature when I checked the codes last night.
Some more symptoms: I can smell fuel and the plugs were black and fuelie (is that a word) when I replaced them. Also, this thing takes forever to warm up (15-20 minutes), and it stutters/stumbles until then. It has left my wife or myself stranded in the middle of the intersection several times. It won't start again without alot of cranking and mashing on the gas pedal. This stuttering appears to be worse on front or rear tank, I don't remember which, I just keep switching it until the darn thing works. When fully warmed up, everthing is much better, man I like all that torque. However, my idle still fluctuates a little and yesterday my check engine light came on then off about 4 times and remained off.
So, I suppose I really need help now and I have been lurking around here for hours/months to little avail. I have found how to check the IAC, TPS, o2 sensors and will do that as soon as I can find the o2 sensors. I have located 1 just after the pipes come together right before where my convertor should be??? but isn't.
Help!!

OK, here's an update, so maybe my hours online didn't go to waste.
I replaced the only o2 sensor I could find and the engine coolant temp sensor, also the intake air temp sensor. I measured the tps voltages (.98V to 4.7V), and cleaned the idle air control. Disconnected battery for about 10-15 min while I put everthing back together. Started it up (no spit/sputter or stumble), warmed up about 10min, and went for a ride. Everything is nice and smooth, drove on hwy about 10 miles. Came home and checked codes...111 for KOEO, CM, AND KOER. I am a little worried about that 542 code I received earlier, but right now its all good!!!
