relay - selonoid resistor wire
The wire from the starter solenoid is not the resistor circuit. It goes straight to the batt terminal of the coil and bypasses the resistor. It provides full batt voltage to the coil while the starter is engaged. The resistor is is in the circuit (wire) from the ign switch to the coil. Plain wire and a separate resistor is the way to go.

Thanx all... 
been tryin to figure out by lookin at the shop manual, what the heck the picture was showing me. I have a resistor,.. and maybe now I can get it hooked up right.. Thanx again.
