1950 Bed Sides

What's the best way to put these back on? I've heard about using rivets, like it was originally, but don't have a clue where to find the rivets. Or would small carriage bolts work just as well? Also, should the sides be welded to the front bed panel, like it came from factory, or do you think the rivets or carriage bolts are enough? Thanks.

Carriage bolts would not work very good as they have the square shoulder under the head. The smallest is 1/4 inch size. Not much of a lip to put them thru. you can get the rivets thru Dennis carpenter or one of the other truck parts suppliers. You might even try a local nut and bolt suppy house in your area.
