exhaust valve
Ive been having mystery noises comming from my 94 4.0 aero. Well my wife took it to a family freind AKA mechanic. he called back and talked to my wife so untill I talk to him Ive yet to hear the exact story. But she tells me he said its an exauhst valve and its going to be around 800.00 to fix it. Doesn't This seem to be a lot of money for this type of repair?? Taking the head off and repairing

Get more info and get a second opinion. How's the compression? A burned or broken valve could be expensive labor-wise on a van with limited access. A broken valve spring may be fixable without removing the head. Bent pushrod perhaps? Get a second estimate first.

My 91 AT 180K HAD PERFECT VALVES. Not impossible for one to be bad but valves are really tough. Get a second opinion. Never seen a bad one. Valves usually burn with perfect quietness. More likely problem is elsewhere.
