Hey guys, every once in a while when I first take off in my truck I can hear something that sounds like a loud thump or backfire that comes from the passenger side floorboard. I'm assuming it's in the exhaust. It sounds like something hitting the bottom of my truck. It only does it once a trip and it does'nt do it every time. I'm afraid I've got a turbo or injector problem.
I've got an '03 F350 4X4 with the auto and the 6.0L and about 120,000 miles.
I've never had any trouble out of the truck like everyone else has with the 6.0
and it started doing it about 10k ago. Thanks for any advise.

Thanks for the reply but this can and has happened when the truck is sitting. And I checked the clearance and I've got plenty of room. It sounds like a backfire. I've never known of a dieasel to backfire. I really puzzled on this one.
In other posts by the experts, they said it was a damper door for the AC /defrost. The doors are vaccume operated and sometimes slam closed when you first take off and change the level of vaccume in the lines. My truck has 105000 miles on it and it still does it now and then.
