equalizer hitch or ?
Hi all, Happy New Year. My question is, do you think i need a load distribution hitch to tow a horse trailer with 1 horse( total load 3500#+/-). I have to tow it about 150 miles mixed interstate/local roads(NY87/ NJ287/ Rt202). The truck is 04 XLT reg. cab SWB 4.6 4x4. I do have air bags and a rear sway bar added because I removed the 2" factory blocks. I'm asking, because to date I've only towed a small 800/1000# set-up. Thank you for any input.

Your tongue weight with that trailer should be 350-525# (10-15%); the closer you get to 500# the more a WD hitch will help, but with your TV I doubt you'll need one. Any chance of hooking up the loaded trailer before your trip, to see how far the rear end settles? Or getting a tongue weight measurement?
