Does anyone know when Ford will stop producing the '07 models, or will they be in production in parallel with the new '08's? Could the supply of '07's be less than a normal year with the change over the new model. It seems it will be well into 2007 before a significant inventory of '08 models will be on dealer lots. Similar to when the new 2005 Mustang came out.
I live outside louisville ky. Have some friends who word at the superduty plant they said when they return to work after new years all truck's will be 2008.
Ford stopped accepting orders around 10/14/06 for 2007 Super Duty models. So, a mid-December stoppage sounds about right and coincides with the beginning of '08 MY builds reported two weeks ago.
So, if you want an '07 you have to find one you like and buy it. I hope you want a PSD because there are not many gas trucks out there.
The last day that Ford could legally build a 6.0 PSD in the United States was Dec 31 2006. From reports, I believe they quit before that.
I was lucky enough to learn this here and on one other site, and got my order in earily. My 07 is sitting at the dealer waiting on my return from Iraq. About 5 weeks now.........
I was at my Ford dealer 4 days ago and they did not have pricing info yet for the '08, also told me it will be months before they have any 2008's in stock. And yes, I have noticed a lot of PSD's for the '07 inventory around here, especially the crew cabs.
From what I hear, the '08's won't be arriving until March. I live in the Northeast and I'd guess there is a 100-1 ratio of PSD to Gas motors available across all trim and cab levels.
They stopped '07 production because the 6.0 does not meet the new diesel emission standards that went into effect on 1/1/07. All diesels from this point on have to have the new clean diesel technology and only be able to burn ultra low sulfer diesel fuel (maximum 50ppm). Stands to reason that Ford from a business standpoint would not want to put the new 6.4 in the current '07 body when they redesigned the '08 model significantly. New design and new engine makes for a better package.
So....does that mean that my new last month 2007 PSD 6.0 can burn the old LSD fuel that the pumps all say they are still dispensing? The stickers on the diesel pumps says that the LSD fuel can't be used in "2007" and later models. It could damage the engines...Huh ? Also, can we all use the new ULSD diesel in any model year?
Confusing, normal for anything our government legislates...

Reason: wrong fuel designation
The 2007 number refers to vehicles manufactured in calendar year not the model year; the government sticker could have been a little clearer on that. I have heard people postulate that the ULSD has less lubricating properties and could induce more mechanical wear on even those engines that are designed for it, but I don't know that to be a fact!
