1992 Explorer Performance Modifications?
-Chips (the JET modual in particular for CA) - Do they work? Anyone have dyno evidence? How much gain?
-Porting - Anyone done it? How much power can be gotten here on stock heads?
-Can the later SOHC heads fit on the earlier OHV blocks? Is this a very intensive swap if it works?
-Camshaft - Seems there are only a couple of cams out there that are designed from 800-5200ish rpm. That seems like the stock powerband. What kind of improvement will one see, if any?
-Headers, exhaust, and intake... anything that acctually works to make meaningful power and not kill torque? Before and after dyno proof?
To get to my goal of 175ish hp I will probably need larger injectors aswell. I have a feeling the motor might be starved at 15lbs/hr... Can the JET moduals compensate for the change from say 15->19lb or 15->21lb injectors? Can the stock EFI realize the change and compensate? Or will the EFI simply dump more fuel?
Lastly... Does anyone know why the 1991 models were rated at 155hp, 1992 at 145hp (LOW!), and the 93-94 at 160hp? Is this change all in the ECU programming? Rating system? Whats up? Thanks!
that means exhaust and intake modifications.
sohc heads, no will not work.
chips, after other mods they help.
headers, free flow exhaust will help.
