Well, just wanted to point out that some people actually need to do some research first before making false accusations.
Unfortunately, people tend to focus more on the brand bashing than on the point you wish to make. Your message then gets lost in the subsquent name calling. Then I have to lock the thread.
So again, let's try to make our "points" in a civil manner.
gcwr on my f 350 short box dually is stamped in the door at 13483 kgs
the dealer also thought i was wrong till we compared the 2 trucks
the sales manager was also baffled as to why they would lower the gcw
chev and dodge both have a much higher gcwr then the ford now
Ford didn't lower the ratings, they keep getting higher as the trucks get heavier and more capable.
The truck you are describing is 'special'. Your truck's rating is higher than normal. It sounds like a commercial truck with some sort of upfitter package on it to handle the weight...Along with the new certified gcwr. Shortbed dually is a rare breed.
My uncle has a '97 SD commercial truck with a similar gvwr sticker over top of the factory one.
Funny, didn't know that the duracrapper can haul over 18K of a fifth wheel.
You need to actually look at the specs of what the maxipad can haul as compared to the Ford. The comparable rearend would be the 4:10 on the 4x4DWR vers. the 3.73 on the duracrapper.
I was using the other guys info, not mine for the CVWR's. He said they dropped. I didn't have any link to the 08's since this is just 07. LOL I know what the duramax can do, and I posted on the other related thread. No need to snap at me. It raises your blood pressure, and I don't really give a rip. I thought that the 4.30 was the highest GCVWR over ford's other options (as would seem logical), and was actually tring to help the other guy out rather than trying to sell him on a new duramax over a new powerstroke. Sheesh I didn't realize the 4.10 and the 4.30 both received the same weight ratings for 05, let alone the new 08 weight ratings. Sorry. We can hash the GCVWR-ings vs. actual haul ratings out on the other thread.
In the end, sorry for even posting.
I thought ford offered a different weight rating based on the diff ratio being a 3.73, 4.10, or 4.30. Although I don't even know if you can get a 3.73 in a duallie ford, let alone what the differences in tow ratings are for the different diff ratio, as it seems to me that they were different.

1968gtcs has about the same manors as Chris1450.
I quoted the wrong duramans post. I meant to quoate your first one. Which you were totally incorrect on, As I pointed out.
There is no link to the new 08 weight rating yet. But they will at least be what the current 07 is. No the 4:10 and 4:30 do not have the same rating as I point out to you. As the rear end gets a lower gear the rating typically go up, this holds true for any of the manufacturer.
You need to do some research on things before you make your cooments. Your comments tend to be more toward bashing the Ford product. (speaking of manors)
mikey123
sounds like you have some sort of "hybrid" truck.
As pointed out earlier even the towboss package is on ood for 26K lbs or 11700kg.
What is the spec on your rear end? maybe they put a set of 4:88's in there.
Which might put you close t0 13000kg (about 12600kg)
But, if it is some sort of hybrid truck you are correct in assuming that you will need a 450 in order to get the 13500kg. Which they may not be much more in cost than a 350, maybe around 5K at most. The 450 also has a much better turning radius as well.
The Build & Price page at Sunrise Ford lists a suspension option that boosts the GCWR of the F450 Pickup from 26,000 lbs to 33,000 lbs. If you look at the price list, be sure to choose the F450, not the F450 DWR. The latter is the chassis cab.
I wonder if it really has 4.10s? Can you take a picture of the gvw in the doorjam?
Good question. I was looking at the Body Builders Guide/Tow Guide for his truck, and the only way you can get a 30,000 GCWR from the factory, is if it were a F-550 with 4.88's and the heavy tow package. F-550's with 4.30's were 26,000 max.
Also the only way you could get a SWB is if it were a pickup from the factory. All chassis cabs were LWB. So maybe the frame was chopped?
