ok i have an 06 F250 4WD. the stock bfg's are OK at best, dont feel to good in the rain. i was wondering if anyone has any expierence with toyo proxes s/t? the load rating for each tire is 2,756I bs so i wont be giving up much in load capicity, i also rarely put heavy loads on. jus curious if anyone has had an expierence with them, also if there are any other tires for these trucks in a 17/18 inch size that are great in rain i would luv to hear. thanks
I'm running a set of Mastercraft Courser C/T's its been raining here for the last couple days. They seem to stick much better to the wet pavement than the BFG's which were toast at 35k. They did really good in the mud, and are holding up to the rocks extremely well. I am running the oem size 265-75-R17 E. 5,000 miles on them so far, pretty impressed with them to say the least. They are made in Texarkana Arkansas by Cooper, so the money is staying here in the U.S. Cooper has a similar line of tread patterns as well. Many people run them here in the oilfield and are getting very good wear out of them.
I've been pretty impressed with the wet and snow traction with Toyo Open Country A/T's......of course I also upped the contact patch considerbly by going to a 325/70R17
Several guys at the dealership I got them from recommended them as they were running them on their personal vehicles.
They seem to have alot of siping and a grippy compound that works well in the wet, but also has additional rolling resistance that can hurt mpg readings. A buddy put them on his wifey's tahoe and lost mpg and has seen irregular wear under 20,000 miles. Could be the truck, the driver, or lack of rotation though.
sweet lookin set up Bandaman! Any run issues with just the 2" Fabtech?
Nope, I've never got them to rub yet, but I don't do any rock crawling either. Also note, I have snow plow prep springs which add about 1" to 1.5" additional height over a standard spring truck.
I put the toyos on my wifes grand cherokee. So far so good. Havent had any snow yet but the seem to be great in the rain. She loves them, big step up from the goodyears.
