Oil pump question
I drive a bronco, but my parents drive an explorer i think it is a 99. anyway my dad changed the oil and spark plugs and forgot to replace the oil. he drove it around the block and noticed the low oil pressure. got it home and now is making a clattering noise. When applying the gas the needle reads normal but when idle the needle reads zero. could he have burned the oil pump and if so how hard is it to replace the pump. any help will be appreciated.

also if it has the overhead cam engine, the cams are the highest part of the engine. the cams themselves may be damaged.
do not start this vehicle up anymore and like i said get it to a mechanic.
