Are you describing what might be a "dragging starter"? If so, you may be experiencing the onset of a dying battery. Some local parts stores have the capability to do a load test on your battery to see if it is up to snuff. The cold temperatures of winter is all it takes to knock an older battery in the head sometimes. Worth a check to see if that's all it is. Check for corrosion around the battery posts too. That'll also contribute to restricted conductivity. Re-post with the results or more signs/symptoms if it turns out not to be the battery.

hesitation whe starting
it is more of having a hard time turning over. Only happens whe the vehicle has not been used for a couple of hours. Someone once suggested cleaning out the IAC valve. But the problem in not in the idleing but in starting. If that makes any sense??
