I'm from a fuel injected generation, and having never had to deal with a carberator, I decided to find one on E-bay to play with to try and learn how it ticks. Well, I managed to find a used EAB Holley Carb on E-bay, which I promptly took apart, soaked in a carb cleaner bucket, polished with my bench grinder, and then re-built with a fresh re-build kit. It looks great and all the linkages work real smooth, but I have actually no idea if it really works as a carburetor!!!! The old carb on my truck works fine, so I am a little hesitant to trade right now, but if I did, can anyone share some information regarding the adjustment procedure. I can just see myself switching eveything, only to see my truck either not run or run like ........, well you know what I mean. Again, I know nothing about these things. I simply followed a diagram and was very careful not to lose any parts while re-building the thing. Thanks for any words of encouragement!!!
Send it over to my house, I'll install it and run it for a couple months to get it "fine tuned" for you -- no charge!!
The Old Car Manual Project ( www.tocmp.com) has a complete manual for the Holley 94 (same as yours) that tells you step by step how to adjust the few things that are adjustable. As far as jetting, stock flathead V8 jetting was more or less # fifty-four mains. (Someone on here may have the exact numbers). What jets are in it now?

Usually the jets were #51, you were close! Did you clean all the passages?
To start tuning it, turn the idle mixture screws in all the way, then back them out about 1.25 to 1.5 turns. If you have access to a vacuum gauge, hook it to your vacuum port on the manifold. You can then turn both in, be careful, the engine may want to die, then slowly turn one out. Keep an eye on the vacuum gauge, when it registers and holds the highest reading, move to the second mixture screw. Repeat the procedure. This will dial in a very smooth idle. You ma have to adjust the idle speed screw afterwords.
Hey Albuq, I'd love to send it over to your house, but I don't think my old F-1 would go too well with all that snow. You live in New "MEXICO" ??? Oh well it was about 70 degrees and sunny here in LA (the land of the fruits and the nuts...literally). As far as what jets are in there now. ??????????????? They are whatever the heck was in there when I took it apart!!!! How can you tell???
Hey Randy: I took EVERYTHING apart. My mom always was yelling at me, but I always got them back together (usually with not too many parts left over!!!). But you know what, I'll bet you did too!!!!! Take care and Happy New Year!!!
