Well, the deed is done. I met up with Bruce (Bdox), Rich (Fyre82), Leroy (Sipped_Link) and Leroys friend Randall at PicknPull today to pull the 460 for the FTE Northern Cal Chapter Project Truck. It was a good time in hillbilly heaven (the wrecking yard).
The five of us did the deed in a short time, which left us where we could scrounge up a few tid-bits for our own personal projects with time remaining. Then we all met at Slot World for a late lunch and some BSing.
Thanks to all of you guys who came out and made it all go so well. It was a pleasure meeting the folks I hadn't had the opportunity to meet yet, Rich and Randall, and also great to see Bruce and Leroy again.
Another successfull chapter meet! Kind of a Northern CalNeva meet.
Now all we gotta do is figure out how to get the engine and trans out there to the other side of the mountain where the truck will be built.

Wat to go tim, I left you a vm awhile back, never heard the phone ring...too much buzzing with the welder going on.
How long did it take you guys to get it out? No problems encountered?
I should be able to plan a run up your way shortly, I just need to figure ouot where the engine needs to be so I'll either deliver it, or bring it to my place.
You guys are great, again I'm sorry things came up for me like they did, but it's great to see a good core of guys take over.
Yes, it went very well Mike. Not sure just how long it took as time flies when you're havin fun, but it wasn't too long. We helped Skipped_Link pull and engine for his garage too so we were there for most of the day. I didn't even have my tools sorted out and Leroy and Randall were already in the engine compartment, with the hood off, asking for tools. I think they've worked a few wrecking yard between me and you. Ha ha. Everybody worked very well together and everyone chipped to share the workload. I was impressed at the enthusiasm and willingness to all contribute to the cause. Great bunch of folks. I'm looking forward to summer activities when we can do stuff like BBQ's and camping and such.
On a side note: Leroy, make sure Randall is given an invitation to any of our functions. Even before he was given his medication, he was a pleasure to have around. Ha ha.
Speaking of core, we can cash in on the core deposit if we have a junk engine and tranny. I don't think it matters what kind of engine it is either. I believe all they want is a heavy piece of metal to scrap. If anyone has something to turn in, and we can get it there without causing unworthy mileage, we have 30 days to collect. If not, oh well.
there was a different core price for complete vs short and long. We bought the complete engine, with all components (minus one valve cover ), so I would imagine they would want something similar. Maybe we should call to find out waht they need? Do you still have their number?
Yeah Mike, I found a bracket for my power steering pump and a dizzy for my truck.
Also, there is an integral power steering box with pitman arm sitting in a 79 F-250 4x4 out there. I know Clint was considering doing a conversion. The power steering box and pitman arm sell for $49, plus $15 core. On a side note: When I went looking for one of those set ups at a steering rebuilder several years ago, the core price for just the box was $500.00, so I would imagine if we want to do that conversion, we should pull that box there at PicknPull.
Clint, if you read this, let me know if your interested.
I gotta admit that was the most fun I've had in a junk yard .
It was a good thing that Leroy & Randall were there, I know that it saved the rest of us some swearing, busted knuckles and frustration. Those guys are fantastic when it come to pulling blocks. I think I worked harder pulling a pair of rusted on tow hooks than they did pulling 2 blocks.
It's a good thing that Pick n pull is over 100 miles from my house, I'd be there every weekend looking for treasures I don't need .
