I just bought my first super duty! It's a 2004 F350 CC King Ranch 4X4 FX4 LWB 6.0 automatic with 87000 miles. yee haw! me and my new truck! I have a list of to do stuff a mile long for this truck and the first is to install my radar detector! I use velcro because I don't like it hanging on my windshield. I tried to stick a piece on the dash but it wouldn't stick, I figured there was armor-all or something on the dash so I used the alcohol swab that came with the velcro to wipe the area just like I have done on my last three chevy trucks.
HOLY COW! what just happened to my dash?!? I just ruined the finish on the dash! wow..... I didn't see that coming.... oh well.... 5 bottles of 91% rubbing alcohol and 400 cotton ***** later I now have a dash plate free of paint with one of a kind swirl marks in the plastic where the color didn't do just right when it was manufactured. from the looks of it all the hard plastic around the dash area is painted. I must have missed the part in the owners manual about dash care. is everyone's dash painted or did ford just paint the ones that didn't look right when it came out of the mold?
since you bought it used it may have been painted either by the dealer trying to pretty it up or by who ever traded it in to get more of a trade in out of it
just a thought
you should be able to get some paint to match the interior and repaint it if you want
