OK. 351 is of course engine size, "E" is the plant code, "2" is the change level,
69 is the calender year, "K3" is the date of assembly (October 03), and K209-S
is the engine code used in the Ford parts books (to show which carb., distributor,
etc. is used on that particular engine for federal certification).
They were supposed to be attached to one of the bolts holding the coil onto the intake manifold. After Feb. 1973 (I think) Ford started using a paper tag glued onto one of the valve covers with a lot more info encoded on it. Unfortunatly, they are easily covered with grease and you'll usually destroy them trying to clean them up.
Of course Ford (or any other manufacturer for that matter)does not expect you to keep a car for more than 10 years.
Correct 78ltd. This was still attached to the coil bracket bolt. Some else actually spotted it in a picture I had posted of the motor. I removed it and cleaned it up so I could read it. Thank you for your help. It's greatly appreciated.
