Ok guy's I have been reading threads on glow plugs an UCV harness etc, and in a lot of cases you need to check the resistance to narrow down/ find the problems, so it got me thinking it's time I add one to the tool box and learn how to use it.
My question is a Ohm meter & multi meter the same thing? and if not do I need to have both? Also I'm guessing I can just buy one at the local Lowes.
Part of the "multi" is almost always a resistance, or "ohm" meter.
So, yes, a multi-meter will fill the bill. However, there are many different qualities of multi-meter, and the cheaper ones are not usually very accurate at real low resistance readings, like glow-plugs.
Yes an Ohm meter just does that, resistance measured in Ohms. Usually a Digital Multimeter (DMM) has Ohm, volts and amps. I inherited a Fluke meter from my grandfather's estate and i have to say it is a very very nice unit!
I agree with strokin. Fluke's are the best! You could poke on eBay if you don't want to pay new price, but it's kinda risky. I personally don't like buying electronics from there.
I agree with GregRob on the Ebay electronics. The Greenlee's from lowes are good enuff for use on our trucks and a very good one can be had for less that 100 bucks
