rear brake help

I have a 93 f-150 with drum rear brakes and after it sits a little sometimes when I come to my first stop, the rear brakes will lock up with the slightest pedal effort? Anyone know a fix?

If you look closely at the rear shoes you'll see one of them has a little less friction material than the other. The one with less should go to the front of the vehicle. If these were not installed properly then it makes the brakes grab more than normal. Also, turning the drums to reduce the glaze will reduce the drums tendancy to grab.

This one messed me up too. Basically, the brake shoe frames are identical, but one has a shorter pad on it. The shorter one is installed towards the front of the truck, and the longer one goes towards the rear.

it's probly moisture. mine and alot of others do it to. just hit the brakes a few times before you are in traffic. I lightly ride mine for about 20 feet till the end of my road. there are alot of little skid marks on my road though.

Mine does that when I first start driving it .... either for the day, or after sitting for an hour or so. I will get to working on the back brakes soon ... guess I will find it put together incorrectly.
