I have a F250, 6.0 Lariat, Fx4 with a 4” Donahoe lift and 35" tires. The chrome F250 badges on the left, right and rear have the black paint flaking off. Does anyone else have this problem and If so, what did you do to resolve it?
1) Get new ones under warranty which will most likely peel again.
2) Go for the all chrome look and use some acetone (Don't get it on the paint) and wipe out the rest of the coloring.
3) Take the badges off. I think that the bigger F-series badges actually have alignment pins on the back so you'll have to do something about the two small holes behind this one if you choose it.
4) Get some custom made billet aluminium ones made by http://www.billetbadges.com/. These can actually have any text on them that you want. Really kewel!!
Mine are doing the same thing so I'm just going to replace them with the older style badges and I want to put some kind of International Badge on the tailgate.
Mine started peeling so I just hit them with a hot water pressure at work and it cleaned every speck of paint off. I think they look great all chrome !
I posted a fix for this a while back but again, call Recon accessories at
877 377 3266. They have vinyl stickers and look great when applied. They have every color available. My brother had the same issue and bought the vinyl stickers. you will be very happy. The only issue is you must take your time because once applied the vinyl sticker is on for good.
two of the ones on my 06 F250 started peeling like a week after i got my truck, took it back to the dealer and they replaced them for FREE, So far they havent started to peel nor has the 1 original fender emblem. time will tell... thats why i got a 7 year warranty
