Swap Question...

First off I'm glad to be back in a Ford. I am buying a 79 F150 4x4 tomorrow with a 300 six in it and I am curious what motor (V8) would be the easiest swap? I have owned a 78 and 79 before but has been to many years. I'm sure it will all come back to me soon.
Thanks in advance everyone, Jim

To keep the torque similar or more than the 300, stay 351 or bigger. The 300 dying a slow death? With a regular build up(intake, carb, cam , header), the 300 can be quite a potent performer.

depends on which mounts are more readily available in your local wreckers. The mounts I'm talking about are the ones that bolt to the frame that the motor mounts bolt to. Took me 7 different wreckers to find the right mounts for mine

IMO, keep the 300. That said, find a 78/79 bronco or f150 4x4 with 351M/400 and get those frame mounts. 302/351W/351M/400 will bolt up to them. Shouldn't be hard to find.
