Reverse lights
I want to tap my reverse light signal and send it to a relay that will control power to a pair of lamps I’m putting on my bumper. It looks to me that the best thing to do is tap the reverses lamps at the back of the truck and put the relay under the back of the truck bumper. If I see things correctly the DTR is located on the transmission and not under the dash so I can’t wire this relay in the truck. Any suggestions? I figure 14 gauge for the run from the battery to the dash with a 15 amp fuse and I’m going to place a three way toggle so I can run lights on always, lights off, and lights on reverse….then a run to the back of the truck for the lamps. I have two 55 watt lamps and I figure 10 amps max for the current and 14 gauge for the run should handle it. If I can find a reverse signal wire under the dash it will prevent me from running two wires to the back of the truck, one for always on and one for the relay. Any input would be appreciated I’m just running ideas trying to think of something I skipped.
