Heater problems
I have a 2000 excursion whith heater problems. Sometimes it blows hot air and sometime it blows cold air. The only thing I could think of is to change the thermastat. I did not think this was the problem but had to start some where. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to check next? thanks

How long have you had your Ex? Some have added a water shutoff valve that closes when you have the A/C set to max. Others have done other mods to close it manually or at different settings. The Ex does have a valve as original equipment you should check there for heat on both sides of valve when the heat is not working. It's on the rh side of my 6.8L above the valve cover. I'm not sure about the other engines.
