I have a new '06 F350 Lariat and there doesn't appear to be a battery readout. Is this normal? I see the turbo boost and transmission temp. was added, which is great. Maybe the voltage isn't as important.
Yep, it's normal. My '06 Lariat does not have one either! I guess having two batteries, it's not such a big issue, but I might add one when I get my pillar gauges!

Yep thats normal. I thought the same thing when I got my 06 F250. Temp is the biggest thing along with oil pressure.
Yeah, Ford decided to leave it off but with all the power needed to run these 6.0's I think they screwed up. Put one here as my A Piller pods were full . . .

that looks sharp there, whats the switch for. Enquiring minds - Air horn by chance? If so when I add a horn I would like to run the switch to one of my Outfitter switches can I?
Here are the answers for the enquiring minds . . .
OK, OK, . . .
Indicator light is for security system Viper from my '03 F150 truck
Red rocker switch is to change between my air horns or my OEM horns. You can't use an upfitter switch to change between the two horn setup as they are live wires. The OEM horn is activated by a ground wire at the steering wheel button. The witch is a DPDT as I couldn't find a SPDT one @ radio shack but it works fine. It allows the air horns to ground or the OEM's
It isn't the best location to see the guage but it's not like I need to view it continuosly, just when I want to check what is going on with the charging system
My A Piller is setup w/ autometer Tranny temp, Boost, & EGT guages.

Most of your digital gauges will have a volt meter on it and while that at the time wasn't why i had gotten a digital one, it comes in handy when you have four gauges(3 of which, egt is fixed, you can change to whatever other gauges that they offer that you want) and it all takes up the space of a single gauge pod on the A-Pillar. Plus I think it's more accurate, although not as cool looking, as an analog gauge, but ford did make a mistake by not putting one in(of course, even if they did put one in, I would be leary of it being like the tranny temp gauge, not all that accurate).
I have a Bully Dog monitor. One of the 4 displays I choose was the Volts. 2 EGT's and Boost finish it out. So far it stays right at 13.2 for the last 2 years...Good Luck

I was wondering how you can state that your digital is more accurate? The Boost and EGT are mechanical and the tranny temp is an probe w/ electrical sender. Volt is electrical hooked into the wiring system so how is your digital a more accurate setup?
I can see where it might read a decimal point but that doesn't make it that more accurate IMO. . . .

It's accurate in how your reading it. The display is more accurate, so in consequence, you know exactly where you are at. My boost shows 13 on the digital, where is the factory boost or even the other mechanical boost, your off in no man's land between tick marks. Same thing with egt's, the display will show your past the 6, but your not at the half way point between 6 and 7, so your somewhere between 600 and 650, but on my digital display it will tell you, you are at 635, that is what I mean by more accurate. The probe itself might be reading 635, but you will have to make a judgment call on were you are at based on where the needle is on your mechanical gauge. I'm not questioning the accuracy of the probe itself, it's the accuracy of the display and how accurate we intreprete what we are reading on the display.
For instance, your voltmeter, it shows that 13 is the tick mark between the 12 and the 14, based on the size of the needle, there is no way you can accurately judge 13.1 or 13.2, which during operation is what mine is showing, and when I start the truck up it's showing 12.8, there is no way that we can accurate say that is what we have on a mechanical gauge. That is what I mean by accurace, not the probe itself, but the displaying of the probe's information to use. It is almost irrevalent how accurate the probe is, if the displaying method isn't AS accurate as the probe that it uses to gather that information.

So all in all how helpful, really, is knowing 635 vs. an estimate of something between 600 and 650?
If you are charging at 13.2 I would say you are low as it should be at 14 and I would guess a regular guage would show you on the high side towards 14 (as normal) vs the low side towards 13 (low). Have your Alt checked.
As these guages go, unless you are really pushing it all the time, the difference between the two is overkill but nice to know. Glad you are happy knowing to the exact decimal, your engine perfoirmance.
I am happy happy know the range it is working in and where it might be headed if things go bad.
