Off to the mountains

Leaving for the mountains of W,Va this morning. We'll be taking the ranger and the jeep liberty. My family owns about a 1,000 acers of mountain land in the blue ridges. There's a lot of old logging roads and deer paths to explore. We wheel all day and then camp in the woods and hit again the next day. It's a great time and it's how we like to spend new years, "wheeling". It's not as cold this winter, so camping shouldn't be as bad. It's not all wheeling, we visit family as well and talk fords and jeeps. Some of my family still wheel the old ****** flat fenders that have been in the family all my life. Ford p/u's, jeeps and some old bronco's, maybe a couple of scouts, it's a fun time in the Borror family, no japanese or GM stuff allowed ha ha. I should be back on wensday, so I'll tell you how it went then. If you don't here from me, that means the trails won ha ha. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun out in w. virgina. It's sounds like you grew up out there, so you wont need a copy of the redneck to engrish dictionary. I'ld give ya mine, because i dont speak either, but if you don't need it, I'll pawn it off to another friend.

I'm back !!! Just got back tonight. It was a blast, we wheeled saturday on our place and camped out, sunday we crossed over to cave mountain and wheeled there. There were real caves to explorer, hense the name. Also we stumbled upon an old deserted hillbilly town close to the top in a cove. Looked like it hadn't been used in a 100 years or so, may have been an old logging camp. Most of the good antiques had done been ramsacked, but it was still cool. It had a general store, a school that doubled as a church, a stable and some log houses. They are starting to fall down but still good enough that you could tell what the buildings were. There wasn't any road to it, we found it by accident when we decided to make our own trail off of an old grown over logging roadl. They have had rain, so it was steep and muddy, my ranger with the tru-trac and BFG's just pawed, grabed and slung mud, it was tough going at times. We had chainsaws, and needed them to clear the trails at times in some places. The brush and pines grow fast. The liberty did very well also, just had to be carefull with stumps and rocks as it's at stock height. It needs a 2.5" lift and a set of BFG 245/75-16's, the stock tires are more street than trail, it was allways spinning. The traction control worked like a lsd, it was neat and a handy thing to have. It was a great time and an awesome way to start the new year, I hope everyone enjoyed thiers as much .

Yeah, it was a great time, if it wasn't for mountain soil being rocky, we wouldn't of been able to climb at all, it was so muddy, but there were rocks in the mud. You would spin a little untill you spun down into the rocks and that allowed us to keep moving forward. A lot of places were just rock and shale, traction was a lot better and didn't spin at all. No one had a winch, we just depended on each other, but no one got stuck. The liberty came close a couple of times with it's junky street tires, but that traction control made both rear wheels spin like a locker, it was cool. I have to get some tires on that thing before we go again.
Waves, sounds like you had fun as well, nothing like starting the year out, with a little wheeling !!!!!!!!!!!
