starter/carb questions

I'm on this forum mostly for my 272 yblock'd '56 big window f100, but I have a question about my '65 mustang. My starter is acting really weird. It will turn the engine over for 1 second, and then spin freely for as long as I hold it on start. Just bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I can tap the starter a little at a time, and because my engine's in really good shape, I can get it to start with that little tap. Is this an issue with my starter being faulty, or is it an electrical issue somewhere? Also, on my holley 1940 carb, the accelerator pump sticks after I get gas to it. When I pull it, dry it out, and reset the plunger in the hole, it operates perfectly. However, when I put the carb back on the car, and turn it over again, the gas gets in there, and when the arm moves from the pedal, the rod on the outside of the carb that goes to the accelerator pump moves up verrrrry slowly. I got it to operate smootly once, and the performance of the engine was impeccable. Is the hole clogged or is the pump plunger just sticking in there or what? Thanks for the info if you've got any. =)))
