check the coolant level. if its low it is the head gasket. but i had my 1980 have some foamy oil when it was setting around for a few weeks in the fall. the water was condensation in the oil pan. my eng temp only hits 190 so it does not boil out as fast as it should.

There sure seems to be alot of these "foam in the oil threads" lately. Must be in the weather.

It is the weather. Engines, especially ones with big slab sides, do not heat up rapidly if at all in the winter. Short trips will always result in condensation forming in the oil. The foam comes from the detergent in the oil doing it's job and emulsifying with it until engine heat can drive it off.
