FMX vrs C6 question

I just got a C6 and want to put it into my '56 F100. Thing is there's an FMX in there now. Is the flex plate on the engine going to fit the C6 torque converter? Also, will the drive shaft fit up? I don't expect the existing trans mount to work. Thanks for the info up front.

FMX vrs C6 question

The C-6 is longer then the FMX by about 3/4", so you will have to move the trans cross member and mount rearward. The flex plate should work, but they don't cost much from a dealer. I paid $85 for a plate and 6 new bolts. D1ZZ-6375-A which has 164 teeth.
The trans cooler port are in different locations, so you will have to revise the cooler lines at the trans connection. Good luck with the conversion. The C-6 is one of the all time tough transmissions.

FMX vrs C6 question

I knew I was forgetting something. I've got a 351C. If a C6 is only 3/4 inch longer, I'm probably going to have to get really creative with the crossmember. I put in a CPP power disc brake setup last year and it interfered with the existing FMX crossmember so I turned it around which moved the bolts forward. The frame rails are going to look like swiss cheese before too long! Gunna have to fix that.

FMX vrs C6 question

A new cross member that bolts to the bottom of the frame either above or below the c-channel flange sells for $45 most places. My 56 has a 351W/C-6 with 69 LTD front disc and coil springs suspension.
