Well I've been driving my 96 F150 (the Sub) for a couple of months now, so I could finally take my '70 crew off the road and give it the attention it deserves. I finished up my tranny swap, t-case rebuild on the 70, have to put her back in use for some towin duty (sleddin). I got in and drove a bit and realized (again) I really LOVE this truck. Its not very civilized but it doesnt cost me much and every dollar I spend makes a difference. Some times it pi$$es me off that it doesn't seem to have the power it should, or its too noisy, or whatever, but it is still cool anyways. And different.
Yeah you got a keeper alright its not perfect but its got potential for its year its in pretty good shape plus its a crew cab these are pretty rare enjoy your old ford truck
Right on I know exactly what your saying. My 70 is my DD also to work and hauling kids around to functions, gotta say it is a PITA to park front row places but more than worth it for the funny looks you get. I'm pretty sure either this truck will rot away or I'll get crushed in it b4 it gets sold to anyone for any price. BTW how did that tranny swap go? looks good.
The swap went pretty good. I made up my own adapter plate out of 1/4" steel, moved the tranny crossmember back a bit, used a chev tranny mount. I had to do a whole new t-case shifter setup so I made the pivot the whole width of the tranny and used some poly bushings to keep the noise and vibration down. The only downside so far is the 3rd gear syncros appear to be weak in my $75 junkyard tranny...
I know what your saying about selling. Guys ask me all the time and I say its not for sale.
Jay Nice looking installation
I'm thinking of going with this type of setup or a gear/vendor o/drive unit. I looking for the easier of the two to do. I also have the divorced transfer case so i'll have to make shift linkage for each way, I choose to go with. Which yr and model NV4500 did you go with and that chev. mount. Maybe you can add a little more info with your album pixs.
Once again great job Jay

Jay, what about clutch linkage and clutch dics hub, did you have to trim it? so that it wouldn't hit the throw pilot bushing like another guy that did this same install ?
I would like to know all the trouble points that, I will encounter.if you don't mind. you could just add it to your album..
I still learning from you younger guys.... thanks
