thinking about buying
howdy ya'll so im thinking about buying a 1990 f150, 4.9 inline 6, with a 5spd, new clutch was put it in about 5000 miles ago. from the picutres it looks in good conditon, the guy wants 2400obo. is there anything bad about this year i should look for. from what i hear the 4.9 6's are bulletproof. anything else i should check for when i got to look at it on saturday?

Look for wheel well rust, cab corner rust and check the radiator/core support where it meets the frame and make sure its not all rusted away. Take it on a test drive and see how the steering feels, if its loose or ok and make sure the engine doesnt miss or knock.

A few other rust problems are the oil pan and the gas tanks. Check for oil leaks and the general condition of the motor compartment. If it looks real nasty in there. Chances are it was not well mantained. The last and most important thing to do is kick the tires. Good luck hope you found a goody.
