PCM-ECM replacement
Have spark knock issue, TSB addressing this problem states the coil pack and PCM need to be replaced, already did the coil pack and went to order the pcm and was told that they are programmable and if it is working shouldn't need to be replaced just "flashed" or updated. Sure would be alot cheaper, anyone know why the PCM would or could need to be replaced if it isn"t fried? Or is Ford just trying to sell parts? Thanks.

It's a re-flash. Did you have the misfire in the first 1000 rpm's code? It is a re-flash so the module waits longer before monitoring for misfires thus ignoring the startup misfires. Just take it to a dealer and get it reflashed.....
