Mitch, The 65 & 66 are nearly identical cept for the grill and radiator support. The repo makers can get two models for the price of one. Get one for the 66 and you should be good to go. IMHO
Can't say enough about this web site. Its like a Band of Brothers/Sister's. I was fortunate enough to recieve a manual from John Cassidy aka "clancassidy". Having access to such a great knowledge of wealth and true "Truck Enthusiasts" folks is priceless.
I still don't understand how the aftermarket companies can't or should I say won't reproduce a 65 manual. The only difference IMO would be the year and acouple pictures of the grill.
Thanks again John for the originial well preserved manual.
Mitch, You might want to think about aquiring the manual, get the licensing, reproduce it, and make it available to the fellow owners, and stuff your pockets with the extra cash. I'm sure you have a need that the funds could provide.
Just a thought, and I'm sure eveyone would love ya for it.
If I thought it would be productive and worth the cost up front, maybe. But I'm not a production type of guy. If others can so be it. I just don't understand why 65 is'nt reproduce. Doesn't seem to have to many veriables from 66 models. Truthfully, I like originial manuals and not made in *&%#@* repro.
I have the original manual with my truck. All the illustrations actually show a 1965 specific grille'd truck. So to have an accurate manual for reproduction, you can't just cheat and use a '66 with a '65 cover.
John; I'm not trying to confuse anyone; my question was why the reproduction companies skip 1965 for making a manual for that year. It doesn't seem to be to big of a deal to change a print screen from a 65 grille to a 66. And some wording from 1965 date to 1966 date's. I would think it would be the easiest one to duplicate. 1964 from a 63 is very different etc.
I'm just saying if you wanted one for your specific model, and you don't want to put a 66 manual in a 65 is what I'm saying.
And yes I like originial stuff over a copy, especially when the copy states its a reproduction item. When in the frist paragraph.
