Any recommendations on which DP burns to put on my 4-pos chip. I was thinking for sure to get high idle and the 80 econo. That leaves two more spots. Just ordered the 6.0 spearco IC, so I'm thinking I can handle some more of the hot ones. I wondered if some of the towing programs might be designed to make the tranny shift better under a load. I am towing a 19.5 gwr trailer.
On another note. I know of someone (very experienced at this stuff) that says you can't create chips for fuel economy. Just curious if there are really any test results proving the efficiency of different programs?
Wow, your trailer is 19,500 pounds? Does it HAVE to be a 4 position chip? You know stock is free, and i think No-start is too. High idle is like $15 if remember correctly and i dont think thats bad, i would go with those three plus four performance tunes. 40tow (tell him what you will be towing), 60tow for lighter trailers, or bump it into that if your EGTs stay in check, 80 econo, and if you like to play, 120 race.
He does change the shift points etc for better transmission performance when towing. Dont mash on it from a start etc it's not very good on the converter. I would get a manual T/C lockup switch too, that way it stays in gear going downhill etc. Oops i see you have a gutted EBPV, you cant use it as an exhaust brake. Also Jody can make a custom fuel mileage tune if you want. His 80 econo tune is labeled 80HP, but it sure does get some great fuel mileage from what i hear. Ron'sPowerStroke got 22mpg on the 60tow on a 1400 mile journey unloaded on 1-95.

As far as the shifting, Jody prefers that you get the BTS valve body (PMT-1 80hp) because he can tune the chip for it. It will give you more controlled and crisp shifts. His towing tunes have different shift points, so coupled with the BTS valve body you will be very happy. I like the 80 tow, but if your going to tow heavy the 60 tow would be better for you. As far as the hot tune, I like the 120 race setting. Although, the 140 sounds mind blowing if your HPOP and tranny is up to the task.

My HPOP triggers the SES light on a very steep hill by my house. I can lug up it at 1500-2000rpm (at the top) and chug solid coal. The light is on when im pulling in my driveway. The duty cycle on the injectors in that mode must be like 15 seconds
Hope some videos are coming soon, Kris, w/ that new camera!
shhhh i have 4 short clips totaling about a minute of idle footage with the lope and stuff... Just need to learn myself on how to use the software...
Plus my backend is sitting 4" higher than the front, waiting on FMC parts, and i need shorter shocks too. Other than that she's legal now and i can finally rip up some pavement and get some footage when i hook up with my buddy. Now it should be a rocket.
Yes that is the 140 tune. You should have seen the smoke. Roll into the throttle and you can go almost 100% and it won't downshift, just lugging it.
yes i did get 22mpg in the 60 tow on my dp tuner..but keep in mind i have an early 99 with a xle computer that jody just intodused with a better program..my crues was set for 72 mph.im going to run the 80 econo on my way home..man i got to tell you with my BTS vb,the t/c lock..and jody's magic..this truck is a blast to drive..i almost cant wait for this week to end just so i can drive that 1400 mile trip back home....you will love a dp tuner..i would never buy another ...im a life time DP tuner owner no matter what..
