Hey guys, my transfer case is stuck in 4-wheel hi, truck has been sitting a long time, tried to shift it out but too much play in the shift lever, pulled the lever and looks to be worn out pretty good (holes rounded out). does anyone know where I can get a NEW one?
I never had problem with them stripping out ,And I run high milage trucks . But have had problem of them rusting together and not working, from not being used . And I'm talking once every couple months . As for lack of Ford dealer parts don't feel bad I've been throgh the same thing on alot newer trucks. Try wrecking yard , you might get lucky . If you live in the boonies like me take a ride and look for one sitting . The bronco grave yard or lmc trucks are both good . But I've never looked for a transfer shifter there. well good luck on search.
Thanks. I wish wrecking yards would just listen. I did the research, an '87 is the only year with that shifter, they said oh yeah we got one...1.5 hours later and 5 tries...nope, they didn't even have an '87. I live 70 miles to this wrecking yard...who "had one".
what transfer case is in your bronco? there is a 1345 and 1356. I dont see how the shifter itself would be different for only 87 model year. i know both 87-88 models had the funky top hat hubs so you might try an 88 for a shifter. also dont forget to look into f150's as well. they would use the same hardware.
